Social Network for Black Hair Care

I went from having hair about 11 inches long to hair that couldn't go into a pony and above my ears! Why on earth did you cut your hair? is what I'd get from my friends, family, fiance, and his family. I was longing for short hair. Why? Because I wanted something different and funky; something other than plain Jane straight locks.

My stylist said,"Are you sure you want to do this?" The allegorical record scratched as all in the salon stopped what they were doing to here my answer. "YES." And a gasp fills the room. I never thought my hair to be long at 11 inches, and I never properly took care of it. Somehow, many women have stopped me to ask me what I do to it, and frequently as a teenager, I would be questioned if my hair was real. "Let me feel if it's tracks."

Since it's growing back, I still get questions from about whether I added extensions in my hair.

In May 2008, I watched my hair fall to the floor. I felt so much weight lifted off of my head...and my neck was cold. lol I got a demi hot red dyed, cut, relaxer, and set. $137.00...Too much for someone like me.

Who knew I could not keep up a short hair cut? Futhermore, who knew it could be so expensive? Every two weeks to cut it. After making a trip two weekends, I realized that is not something I want to do with my money or my Saturdays. Plus, the demi dye died out in two washes.

I've decided to let my hair grow. I continue my routine of a relaxer every 12 weeks-15 weeks depending on if the salon has an open slot on my beloved Saturday. I love my relaxer day because this is when I see what all my hard work ( really taking care of my hair ) has accomplished. For a month after the relaxer, I begin to feel those wavy waves that we call new growth, and count down to when I sign in to see my stylist and to try to impress her by how strict I'm sticking to the routine of washing my hair every week, no more flat irons, etc. The next month, I run my my fingers through my hair and notice my waves are deeper. Yes, I can't wait to go to In the Master's Hands!

I'm in love with my hair for the first time, and I want to treat it like it's threads from Jesus' gown.

Won't you join me on my hair journey? My hair is at the collar of a white button down shirt. I'm going for shoulder length by July.

I thought about using it, but I decided not to when I read other people's messages about it not working. It seems like it's just regular vitamin E that is meant for your hair.

My hair has grown quite a bit since I cut it in May 2008. It's a little bit past my shoulders now which is amazing for it being so short 14 months ago. I just cut out using heat (like I used to flat iron everyday), and using products that aren't good for our hair (heavy grease, things with petroleum in it). I started washing and conditioning my hair weekly, using a protein treatment monthly, and eating right.

Not yet. I am eager to use it though. I'm thinking about ordering it next week. I've been trying to convince my mom to do this with me. I swear, it's like a diet (needing someone else to stay on a regimen with me)! Her hair fell out on the top of her scalp. =\

She was getting her hair braided and weave sewn in for two years, and also no relaxer for two years. So you think that since there was nothing stressing her hair, it should be in pretty good condition. The person who was doing her hair would cut it with a razor when trying to cut the threads out. Then, my mom was almost dependent on the weave to hide her real hair. =( She finally got rid of that hairdresser aka hairmesser and the weaves. Her hair is really short but slowly growing back.
