I have started a new natural hair journey. I have completed the big chop and am now working on growing out naturally. I must say my hair is a lot more coarse than I expected it would be but I am enjoying it. I do not think I would relax it again. It has been healthier and happier since I have been natural. However I have had some set backs recently with my hair. I was using peppermint oil to stimulate my scalp to encourage thicker hair and to bring in my edges, however I must have used to much one day in the top of my head because it caused MAJOR shedding from the root. Which left me with a quarter sized thin area in the top of my head. So I plan to address this area with temple balm by Organic Root Stimulator(which I have used in the past). But in the mean time my normal routine will remain the same.

I wash once a week with Cream of nature Shampoo
I co wash 2-3 times per week with LeKairs Cholesterol
If I need a deep conditioner I use Organic Root Stimulator Deep Conditioner
I use all natural virgin coconut oil, olive oil on a daily basis for mouisture ( I usually put this mix on in the morning)
And before bed I use Afro Degangler (www.growafrohairlong.com)

I do not wear my natural hair out for more than two days. So my natural hair is usually in cornrows under a wig, or braided up under a sewn in weave. If I have a sewn in weave I pretty much do the same thing but I dillute my products and use a squeeze bottle to wash and condition my hair between the tracks and braids.

If am wearing individuals or kinky twists. I don't wash them as often becuase that causes them not to last that long. So what I do is just wet them with water 2 times a week. I just stand under the shower and let the water run through my hair. I don't use shampoo for this. But when I do shampoo my braids/kinky twists which is about every other week, I use a squeeze bottle to wash and condition the braids/twist. I try not to keep braids/twists in longer than 6 weeks. But daily I use my coconut oil/olive oil mix in the morning and at night I use african prides braid spray. I don't use any cream products because it causes build up at the roots.

I am trying to keep my routine simple, because thats what my hair likes. So I will post progress pics as I go. You can see samples of my hairstyles in my natural hair journey folder.

No my hair does fairly well when I co-wash, but when I wash with shampoo thats when it is dry. So since my last post I have stop using shampoo to wash once a week and and have now decreased to every other week. When I do wash with shampoo I do a three step moisture treatment. I use a water based mixture that I make with peppermint oil (just a little), infusium 23, and water, and then I apply a oil that I had mixed by a trichology, I don't know everything that is in it but I know it has tea tree oil in it. Then the final part is a cream based product called afro detangler that I purchased online.
