The first step to achieving great skin is by using a good cleanser. A cleanser is recommended for your skin type whether sensitive, dry, combination, oily or normal. Pay close attention to the cleansers you choose. There are a number of cleansers that you can use for your skin such as foaming cleansers and exfoliating cleansers which are great for oily skin. Cream cleansers help to moisturize the skin while it cleanses, and are better suited to dry skin due to their soft and creamy consistency.
Next, exfoliation! You can exfoliate once or twice weekly depending on your skin type. Exfoliation helps to keep your skin soft, smooth and buffs away dead skin cells. It evens out your complexion helping to rid your skin of blemishes and scars. For those with spots, severe acne, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads exfoliation is not recommended too often as this can irritate your skin (unless using an exfoliator with very fine granules). Omit the exfoliator step if you have skin prone to blemishes; opt for a clay or mud based mask instead, as these draw out impurities from the skin and help to control oiliness and unblock the pores.
Third, using a good toner suited to your skin type will refresh the skin and remove any residual dirt and cleanser that is still on the surface of your skin.
And finally, steps 4 and 5- moisturize and protect! Moisturize with a suitable moisturizer for your skin type. Lastly, make sure to protect your skin daily from harmful UVA (Aging), UVB (Burning) rays and pollution by using a moisturizer which contains sun protection factor (SPF).
